Coaching at cCFC
Being a great soccer coach starts here
Coaching can be a very rewarding experience as you help children learn and grow, both in the game of soccer and in developing positive character traits.
All coaches at Circle City FC, whether it be in our rec program our our travel program, are volunteers. Without volunteer coaches, our children would have no one to guide them on their journey, and ultimately wouldn't have the opportunity to play organized soccer at all.
You're not in this alone. Our club leadership, including our Rec Director, Rec Coordinators, and Travel Director, are here to support you every step of the way.

Roles & Responsibilities
The coach's main job is to create an environment that allows the kids to have fun and learn about playing soccer. The coach is a leader, role model, safety officer, teacher, and soccer ambassador. A coach leads players through training and games.
You don't have to be a "soccer expert" or have prior coaching experience. In fact, the United States Soccer Association has created new introductory Grassroot courses that will provide a supportive approach to teaching and coaching players at 4v4, 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11. Whether you are the unfamiliar parent volunteer, the transitioning player or a veteran coach, these courses will provide you with more knowledge and a better understanding of how to effectively develop your players.
Qualifications
Volunteer coaches are required by the club and Indiana Soccer to complete a background check (every 2 years), the SafeSport Training (90 minute certification course with yearly approximately 20-30 minute refresher course), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's HEADS UP online concussion training (approximately 30 minute course).
In addition, we expect all coaches at CCFC to do the following:
Have a basic understanding of soccer, or be willing to take a short online course (US Soccer's Grassroot courses)
Attend a pre-season coach's meeting run by the club
Demonstrate respect, self-control, and professionalism in all interactions with players, referees, parents, and opponents
Communicate with players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches in a positive and appropriate manner
Prioritize the safety, well-being, and development of every youth athlete
Uphold the values and expectations of the club both on and off the field, including but not limited to: CCFC rec league rules, Indiana Soccer playing rules, player code of conduct, and parent/spectator code of conduct
Have a commitment to their team for the entire season
Be organized, enthusiastic, and patient with players
Be open to suggestions and advice from the club leadership
How to Register to Coach
Coaching Rec Soccer
To coach a team in our rec program, during the registration process you can choose to volunteer and be a head coach, assistant coach, or team parent. If selected, you will be notified by the club and given instructions on how to complete the required certifications and checks, as well as a deadline date. If these are not completed in a timely manner, you will not receive your coach's shirt and be held from coaching your team.
Coaching Travel Soccer
To coach a CCFC travel team, reach out to our Travel Director to learn more about taking on a team or assisting an existing team at our club.
